Can you not take off companions' clothes anymore in Fallout 4?

Actually, I've been able to change my companions' clothes without a hitch. Just traded with them, took their gear, and gave them something else snazzy to wear. Easy peasy, and now we're roaming the Commonwealth in style.

Nope, you're stuck with whatever fashion disaster they're sporting when you meet them. The wasteland has standards, apparently.

In Fallout 4, you absolutely can influence your companions' wardrobe, but it's not as straightforward as clicking a button to undress them. You have to trade with them, just like you would to give them equipment or items. Basically, you can ask them to equip different apparel by trading with them and selecting the better option or by taking their equipped items into your own inventory. This way, their outfit changes to a default undergarment. Remember, each companion has certain items that you can't remove, like Piper's cap or Nick Valentine's trench coat. You totally can change their outfits, just not remove them entirely. Give them new armor or a snazzy suit, and they'll switch. I decked out Piper in a tuxedo and we've been classy ever since!
