Absolutely, you can still play Base Set Pokemon cards in casual games with friends! However, official tournaments follow the Standard or Expanded formats, which typically don't include Base Set cards. But nothing's stopping you from throwing down a classic Charizard in a friendly match!

100% yes for nostalgia's sake, but if you're aiming to win in official tournaments, those old cards might not cut it. I tried it at a local event, just for fun though. Got smiles and some surprised looks!
