Unfortunately, you can't play GTA 5 on PS3 with PS4 players. The two consoles don't support cross-platform play for that game.

You can't, I tried playing with my friend who has a PS4 while I was on my PS3 and it simply wouldn't work.

Nope, it's a no-go. PS3 and PS4 GTA 5 players can鈥檛 join the same online sessions.
