Short answer: No. PS5 games are designed to take advantage of that next-gen console's hardware, so you can't play the PS5 version of GTA 5 on a PS4. But you can still enjoy the PS4 version on your PS5!

Yep, you can play the PS4 version of GTA 5 on the PS5 thanks to backward compatibility. The game runs smoother and loads faster on PS5, which is pretty sweet. However, if you're asking if the PS5-enhanced version works on a PS4...well, that's a no-go. The upgraded graphics and performance improvements are exclusive to the PS5 version.

From personal experience, trying to jam a PS5 game into my PS4 didn't end well – for my sanity or the console. Stick to PS4 versions on the PS4, guys. Learned that the hard way.

If you're a Grand Theft Auto player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
