As a long-time PS gamer, you can't play PS3 games natively on the PS Vita. Remote Play is an option but it depends on the game.

You can't directly play PS3 games on the PS Vita, but you can use Remote Play to stream some PS3 games to your Vita. So, you won't be playing the game from the Vita itself but rather controlling the PS3 with it.
