No way, single player's where it's at. Multiplayer, especially local, just adds chaos.
I've tried it, and honestly, playing Terraria in local multiplayer is the way to go. There's something special about shouting across the room at your friend because a Skeletron just showed up unannounced. 10/10, would recommend.
