Actually, returning a gifted game on Steam is a bit of a hassle. The person who bought the gift must request the refund, and all the usual refund rules apply. So, unless it's a really bad game or you've got a super understanding friend, it might be best to just say thanks and add it to your digital pile of shame.

Yep, you can absolutely return a gifted game on Steam, but there's a catch. The original purchaser has to be the one to initiate the refund request. Make sure the game hasn鈥檛 been played for more than two hours and it鈥檚 within 14 days of purchase. So, hit up your friend and let them know they need to do the legwork if you're hoping for a refund.

I tried returning a gifted game once. Had to convince my buddy to go through the whole refund process since he was the one who bought it. It's doable but definitely adds an extra step. Make sure it's worth the effort before you ask them to jump through the hoops.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
