I've been playing Starfield religiously, and rest assured, it's all about mission outcomes and choices. Barrett has his path, and you got yours!
Barrett's a tough cookie! You can't actually rescue him, but you can enjoy all the cool adventures together.
In Starfield, you can't save Barrett the way you might in other RPGs where rescue missions are involved. But the good news is, Barrett is a pretty important character, so you won't lose him easily! Focus on completing his quests and you'll see him again.
