Absolutely! Just go to 'Battle Mode' in the main menu and then select 'Versus' to start a 1v1 match.

From personal experience, you just need to hit up 'Battle Mode' and then 'Versus' from the main menu. My brother and I have had some epic Saint Seiya duels this way!
