Actually, according to official rules, it's a firm no for the standard game. You're at 20 life and not a hit point more, unless you're diving into formats with their own set of rules. Commander is where you get to start with 40 life, making for a longer, more epic game.

Nope, the standard starting life total in Magic The Gathering is 20 for most formats. However, in some specific ones like Commander (also known as EDH), you kick things off with a heftier 40 life. Just remember, the main rulebook sticks to 20!

Gonna throw a curveball here: technically, every player starts with 20 life, but if you're feeling spicy and your playgroup agrees, who's stopping you from starting with more? Just know, it's not official rules, but hey, games are about fun, right?

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
