Yup, you can stop cast triggers in MTG, but it's all about timing and the right cards. Counterspells are your best friends here, since they can negate a spell as it's being cast, effectively stopping the trigger from happening. Another way is to remove the source of the trigger before it can get off, but this usually requires a bit of foresight and quick action.

Actually, while you can counter the spell that's being cast, once a cast trigger is on the stack, you can't 'stop' it in the traditional sense. You've got to let it resolve or use abilities that specifically counter abilities, not many of those though.

Short answer: Yes, but it's tricky. You need either a counterspell to stop the spell outright or a way to preemptively deal with the ability's source.

Nah, just let it happen. Cast triggers are part of the fun. Why stop them?

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
