Can you tap in response to your own attack in Magic The Gathering?
ImplementingPons路7 months agoAbsolutely! In MTG, you can definitely tap your creatures in response to declaring them as attackers, but there's a catch. You have to tap them for an ability they have that doesn't require them to tap as part of the cost. For example, if you've got a creature with an ability that says 'Tap, Sacrifice a creature: This creature gains indestructible until end of turn,' you wouldn't be able to use this in response to attacking because tapping is part of the cost. However, if the ability doesn't require tapping as the cost, feel free to tap away in response to your own attack!

Nah, tapping your creature as part of the cost to activate its ability can't be done in response to attacking. That's because declaring attackers happens before you get a chance to use any abilities that require tapping as part of the cost.
From personal experience: tried tapping my creature with a tap ability right after declaring it as an attacker. Didn't work because tapping was part of the cost. However, I've successfully used abilities that trigger without tapping during the attack. So it depends on the ability's cost!
