In my experience, you can't transfer Xbox Live from one account to another. I had to set up a new subscription for my son's account instead.

Nope, Xbox Live subscriptions can鈥檛 be transferred to a different account. You鈥檒l have to cancel and repurchase it on the new one.

Unfortunately, Xbox Live subscriptions are tied to the specific account they were purchased on and can't be transferred to another account. Sorry!
