Nah, Instagram includes the 'Seen' feature by default, and there's no way to disable it. Swiping left on that idea!
Unfortunately, Instagram doesn't let you hide 'Seen' in DMs. Maybe try sending your urgent messages via carrier pigeon?
As someone who tried hard to find a way around it, I can confirm it's impossible to turn off 'Seen'. Just embrace the read receipt!
