Nope, it's not really practical. Stick with a DualShock controller.

You can, but it’s limited. Not all PS3 games are compatible with Remote Play, so the PSP won’t always work as a PS3 controller.

I've tried it before, and while you can use a PSP for Remote Play, it's not a full replacement for a PS3 controller.
