Nah, you can’t directly use a wired PS3 controller on a PS4. You'd need a special adapter to get it working, and even then, it might not be perfect.

I've tried using my old wired PS3 controller on my PS4, but it just won't recognize it. Ended up getting a new controller.

Nope, PS4 doesn't natively support PS3 controllers. However, some third-party adapters might help if you're really in a pinch.
