Sounds like a classic case of the Steam Deck being a bit finicky. First, make sure you've fully updated your SteamOS. If updates don't solve it, you might be looking at a filesystem error. Try using a different USB port for any external devices, and if all else fails, you might need to reach out to Steam support for a deeper dive.

You're plugging it wrong, mate. The Steam Deck is pretty straightforward. Check your connection and try again. Also, ensure the device you're connecting is compatible.

Just restart it. Worked for me when I had the same issue. Simple but effective.

Had this problem last week. Turns out, my external HDD needed reformatting to work with the Steam Deck. Make sure your device is formatted correctly and is actually compatible with SteamOS.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
