Oh yeah, back in the day before regulations became strict, Hot Wheels did use lead paint. It was pretty common for toys in the 60s and 70s to have lead paint because we weren't as aware of the health risks as we are now. But don't worry, they've been lead-free for decades now!
Honestly, yeah, Hot Wheels used lead paint, but so did almost every toy back then. Just make sure any vintage Hot Wheels you get for display purposes only!
