Nope, the anime came first! The cards are cool and all, but they rode in on the coattails of the anime's success. Without Ash and Pikachu's adventures on TV, who knows if we'd all be trading and battling with the cards today?

Yep, Pokemon cards actually hit the scene after the anime started airing. The anime was the trailblazer that introduced us to the world of Pokemon, and then the cards swooped in to give fans a new way to engage with their favorite monsters. So, in the grand timeline of Pokemon history, the anime is the egg that hatched before the TCG chicken.

Actually, the anime premiered first, and the cards followed. It's a common misconception that the cards came first because they've become such a staple in the Pokemon universe.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
