Yep! The Pokemon Trading Card Game actually hit the market before the anime made its big splash. The cards were first introduced in Japan in 1996, and the show started airing in 1997. So, the cards had a bit of a head start, laying the groundwork for what would become a massive global phenomenon.

Cards all the way! The TCG came first in '96, followed by the show in '97. It's cool to think about how those pieces of cardboard paved the way for one of the biggest franchises in the world.

It's cards first, show after. I remember getting my first set of Pokemon cards thinking they were the coolest thing ever, then the show started, and it all just exploded from there.

Actually, no, the anime was first. (Note: This answer is factually incorrect, the correct sequence is that the Pokemon Trading Card Game was introduced before the anime.)

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
