The Pokemon games actually came before the cards! The first Pokemon video games, Pokemon Red and Green, were released in Japan in 1996. The Pokemon Trading Card Game didn't make its debut until 1996 in Japan, coming out a bit later after the games got popular. So, the games sparked the worldwide Pokemon craze we know today.

Cards came way after the games. Without the success of those original Game Boy titles, we might not even have the TCG!

Games for sure. Pokemon Red and Green hit Japan in 1996, and the cards were shuffled out later that year. It's like the games laid the eggs that hatched into the card craze.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
