Not exactly! Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces were developed separately but released around the same time. Mania came out in August 2017, and Forces in November 2017.

As someone who played both, I can say they鈥檙e like two sides of a coin. Mania is a nostalgic trip, while Forces is more contemporary.
