Nope, the Pokemon video games came first! The first Pokemon video games, Pokemon Red and Green, were released in Japan in 1996. The Pokemon Trading Card Game didn't hit the scene until 1996 in Japan, which was after the games made their debut. So, the cards actually followed the success of the games, not the other way around!

Actually, it was the video games. The cards were more like a super cool follow-up to the craze the games started.

Games first, cards later. Trust me, I was there. Had to save up my allowance for months just to get my hands on those first edition cards after burning through batteries on my Game Boy.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
