Yes, they did! It's called Dragon Ball Kai and it's a remastered version of Dragon Ball Z with updated visuals and less filler.
Nah, only Dragon Ball Z got the remake treatment as Dragon Ball Kai, so you're stuck with the classic for the OG series.
As someone who's watched both, I can tell you Dragon Ball Kai is where they polished DBZ, but the original Dragon Ball remains untouched.
