Yup, in Magic The Gathering, +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters cancel each other out. Say you've got a creature with a +1/+1 counter on it and it gets hit with a -1/-1, they'd basically neutralize each other, and you'd remove both counters. It's like they never happened!

Nope, they totally do. It's an elegant way to handle counter wars on creatures. Adds a nice layer of strategy too.

Actually, it's a bit more complex. While +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters do cancel each other out, remember this can also trigger abilities or effects based on the placing or removing of a counter. So, while they negate each other in terms of creature stats, the gameplay impact might be bigger.

Basically, yes. If your creature gets a +1/+1 counter and later on picks up a -1/-1, they do cancel out. It鈥檚 part of the rules that help keep the battlefield a bit cleaner and less cluttered with counters everywhere.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
