Nope, copy effects in Magic The Gathering don't copy counters. When you copy a creature or any other card, you're just getting a copy of the card as it is printed, minus any counters, enchantments, or equipment attached to it. Think of it as hitting the reset button on the card - you're getting the basic, out-of-the-box version.

Short answer: No. Copy effects only copy the card's original text, not any modifications like counters.

Actually, it depends on what you're copying. If you're copying a card that's already on the battlefield, then no, counters don't get copied. But if you're copying a spell that puts counters on something as it resolves, then yes, the counters are part of what's being copied. Context is key!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
