I've actually tried this! Used a bit of blu-tack to stick a tiny fridge magnet onto a Hot Wheels car and it worked a treat with the Brio crane. It's not perfect, but for a makeshift solution, it's pretty fun!
Honestly, not really. Hot Wheels aren't designed with magnets like Brio trains, so straight out of the box, they won't work with magnetic cranes. It's kinda like expecting a cat to enjoy a bath. Sure, with some effort, you can make it happen, but it's not what they were made for.
