Nope! You don't need Xbox Game Pass to play online. You need Xbox Live Gold for that.

No, you actually need an Xbox Live Gold subscription for online play. Xbox Game Pass gets you access to a library of games but doesn鈥檛 include online multiplayer (unless you have Game Pass Ultimate, which combines both).

Short answer: No. Online play requires Xbox Live Gold, not Game Pass.

I have both. You need Xbox Live Gold for online multiplayer, and game pass for access to a bunch of games. They are separate services unless you get the Ultimate tier which bundles both!
