Do keywords stack in MTG?

Short answer: yes, but it depends on the keyword. Some keywords, like double strike, don't really 'stack' for additional effect because what would 'double double strike' even mean? But then you have abilities like 'first strike' and 'double strike' which can coexist on a creature and make sense. Always check the comprehensive rules for quirky interactions!

Keywords stacking? Mostly nope. Think of it as a buffet rule: you can add whatever you like to your plate (creature), but grabbing more of the same dish doesn鈥檛 always mean you get more enjoyment (or in MTG terms, effect).

Absolutely, keywords in Magic The Gathering can stack, and it's part of what makes the game so strategic. For instance, if a creature has 'lifelink' twice, you don鈥檛 get double the life, since lifelink鈥檚 effect doesn鈥檛 stack. However, multiple instances of 'double strike' or 'trample' don鈥檛 give extra benefits beyond their initial effect. It's all about knowing which keywords can give you an advantage in play!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
