Do positive and negative counters remove each other in MTG?
ImplementingPons路7 months agoYep, positive and negative counters totally cancel each other out in Magic The Gathering. If your creature gets hit with a -1/-1 counter but already has a +1/+1 counter on it, they'll just poof each other out of existence. It's like math, where a +1 and a -1 make a zero. Helps keep the battlefield less cluttered!

Absolutely not, they do NOT cancel out. It's not just simple math; it's about the rules of the game. Once a counter is placed, it's there until something specifically removes it.
In my experience, using both types of counters strategically can turn the tide of a game. I've definitely used -1/-1 counters to nullify an opponent's +1/+1 counters. Makes for a great strategy if you play it right.
