I've tried it myself, and the PS3 controller just doesn't sync with the PS4. You need the DualShock 4 to enjoy the full experience!

Short answer: No. PS4 requires a DualShock 4.

Nope, PS3 controllers aren't compatible with PS4 directly. You'll have to use a third-party adapter if you want to make it work!
