They do work, but with limitations. Now you have to own the audio you're trying to play, so it's not as easy as it used to be!

Nope, Roblox shut down the ability to play user-uploaded audio on boomboxes in public games in March 2022.

Just tested it! They work in private servers where you have the permissions. Public servers? Not so much.
