Do tokens copy all effects of the original token in MTG?
CompletingClint路7 months agoNope, that's not entirely accurate. Tokens copy stuff like color, power but don't keep counters or auras from the original. It's like copying a document but not the sticky notes attached to it.

Mostly, yes, tokens created as copies of other tokens or cards will copy most of the original's characteristics such as color, card type, subtype, power, toughness, and any abilities that were printed on the original card or given to the original token at the time it was created. However, they won't copy any temporary effects that have changed the original鈥檚 power, toughness, or abilities after it entered the battlefield. Also, copied tokens won't come with counters that were on the original unless specifically stated by the effect creating the copy.
I made a token copy of a creature with a bunch of +1/+1 counters once, thinking it'd be as strong. BIG mistake. Lost the game because of it. Copying only gets you so far; you don't get the extras like counters or equipment.
