Nope, werewolves aren't wolves in MTG. They might run in packs, but for card purposes, they ain't the same!

Actually had this debate at my local game night! Someone tried to argue that a 'wolf buff' card should work on his werewolf. Long story short: it doesn't. Werewolves are their own thing in MTG, separate from plain old wolves.

In Magic: The Gathering, werewolves and wolves are considered different creature types. While both share a thematic connection and often appear in the same sets (especially in Innistrad), mechanically, they are distinct. Werewolves are their own type and usually transform between human and werewolf forms, depending on various game conditions. Wolves, on the other hand, don't have this transforming mechanic and are simply creatures of the Wolf type. So, if a card effect specifically mentions one type, it doesn't automatically apply to the other.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
