I tried it myself, and while the Xbox controller doesn't work directly with the PS3, I used a third-party adapter to make it happen. It wasn't perfect, but it worked for casual gaming!

You can use an Xbox controller on a PS3 with a special adapter, but it's not a plug-and-play solution.
