Absolutely, going first in MTG gives you a significant advantage! It lets you lay down lands and cast spells before your opponent, setting the pace of the game. It's like getting a head start in a race; you get to lead the action and put pressure on your opponent from the get-go. Plus, you don't know your hand until after you decide to go first or second, so it's a universal strategy to opt in for the first move.

Nah, it's not always the best to go first. Sometimes, depending on your deck strategy, going second is better because you get to draw an extra card. In formats like draft or sealed, that extra card can really make a difference. So, it's not a one-size-fits-all kind of deal.

As someone who's been playing MTG for years, I always choose to go first if I win the coin toss. It's just too good to pass up the opportunity to be one step ahead. Plus, setting up defenses or applying pressure right away can really mess with your opponent's game plan.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
