You can play Starfield by purchasing it on Xbox or PC, but having Game Pass Ultimate is a sweet deal if you want access to a bunch of other games too!
From my experience with other Bethesda titles, getting Game Pass Ultimate is great if you like accessing multiple games, but it's not required if you're just interested in Starfield.
