Do you need Nintendo Online for Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Yeah, if you wanna visit friends' islands or have them come to yours, you need a Nintendo Online subscription. It's not required for solo play though, so you can still enjoy most of what Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers on your own. Plus, sharing designs and downloading custom ones online is another cool perk of having the subscription.

Not at all if you're a solo player. You can enjoy Animal Crossing: New Horizons without Nintendo Online, but say goodbye to visiting islands and all the multiplayer fun.
Definitely needed for the full experience! Nintendo Online lets you do all the multiplayer stuff, which is where a lot of the fun is at. Without it, you're missing out on visiting friends and seeing all the creative stuff people come up with. Just solo play and local multiplayer don't need it.
Honestly, it's overrated. I've been playing ACNH without Nintendo Online, and I don't feel like I'm missing out. Great for solo players who don't care about online features.
