Yup, you'll need an online subscription to fully enjoy Splatoon 2’s multiplayer modes! It's pretty much the main draw of the game. But hey, there's always the single-player campaign and local multiplayer to keep you swimming in ink!

I played tons of Turf Wars and Ranked Battles all online, but don't forget there's an awesome single-player campaign and local co-op Salmon Run too!

You don’t NEED it for everything, single-player campaign and local play work fine offline.

You do need an online subscription to play the main multiplayer modes, but there are some single-player modes available too.
