Only if you wanna win! Pumping up your creature’s power before the attack phase makes mentoring way more effective. Bigger is better when it comes to mentoring.

Nah, you don't need to hit the gym before mentoring in Magic The Gathering. Jokes aside, you DO need to pump up your creature's power before it can successfully mentor another. Mentor lets a creature with greater power help boost another creature's power during the attack phase. So, if your creature isn't buff enough to have higher power than the one it wants to mentor, you gotta pump it up!

Actually, no. You don't always have to pump before mentoring. Sure, a creature with mentor must have greater power to put a +1/+1 counter on the target creature, but some creatures naturally have enough power to mentor without needing a boost. It all depends on the creatures you're working with.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
