You don't need Xbox Live to play Injustice 2 offline. But if you wanna go online for multiplayer battles, yes, you need Xbox Live Gold!

From my experience, you only need Xbox Live Gold for the online features. The story mode and local matches are all good without it.

Nope, you can play the single-player modes without Xbox Live. But for online multiplayer and some features, Xbox Live Gold is a must.
