Yes, but it depends on the model. The original PS3 (the fat one) has backward compatibility for PS2 games. Slim and Super Slim models, not so much.

Some PS3 models can play PS2 games. Check if your PS3 has four USB ports in the front; those models usually do!

Short answer: OG PS3, yes. Later models, no.

I have an old 60GB PS3, and it plays PS2 games just fine. Later models, though, you'll need a workaround.
