Short answer: No. Long answer: Still no, but they're both great games to play if you're into the Animal Crossing universe.
As someone who's invested way too much time in both, I can say for sure they don't connect. But, really, it doesn't take away from either game. They each have their own vibe and ways to make your animal friends happy!
