Does Commander Tax Add to CMC in MTG?
ReroutingTopaz路7 months agoNo, commander tax doesn't change the CMC. It's like an extra fee on top that you pay for casting your commander multiple times.

Nope, commander tax doesn't add to the card's Converted Mana Cost (CMC). CMC is determined solely by the mana symbols in the top right corner of the card. Commander tax just makes it more expensive to cast from the command zone each time it's been previously cast, but the CMC stays the same.
Absolutely not! CMC stays pure to what's printed on the card. Think of commander tax as a rental fee for bringing your commander back to the battlefield party. Higher fee each time, but the invite (CMC) remains unchanged.
