However, it's super important to remember that the cost reduction applies to the overall cost and not directly to the X value. So, if your spell costs X and you get a 1 mana reduction, the entire spell is cheaper by 1, not just the X portion.

Absolutely, cost reduction does apply to X spells in Magic: The Gathering! When you're casting an X spell, you determine the value of X and then apply any cost reductions. So if you have a spell that's X and 3, and you have a cost reduction of 1, you'd only need to pay X and 2. This makes some of those big spells a bit easier to cast!

From personal experience, yes, cost reduction definitely applies and it's awesome. I played a game where I had a cost reduction artifact on the field and got to cast an X spell for way cheaper than it should've been. The look on my opponent's face was priceless!
