You gotta save them manually before you hit delete, otherwise, poof! The memories are gone with your account!
Delete the app, not your account, if you want to keep hold of your memories for later.
Not deleting the app but deleting the account, that's where you lose everything including your memories. So back 'em up first!
Deleting Snapchat doesn't delete your memories if you back them up before deleting. (Trust me, I found out the hard way!)
