Does 'Distribute' Count as Targeting in MTG?
SignalingCloud路7 months agoNope, 'distribute' doesn't count as targeting in MTG. When a card says to distribute something (like +1/+1 counters among a couple of creatures), it's not the same as targeting. This means those sneaky spells can slip past abilities or rules that would normally prevent or punish targeting. Pretty neat loophole, huh?

Absolutely not. 'Distribute' is a fancy MTG way to spread the love without the strings of 'targeting' attached. So, go ahead, distribute those counters like you're the Oprah of MTG, and those pesky 'can't be targeted' creatures won't even see it coming.
Distributing doesn鈥檛 equal targeting. Had a game where this made all the difference. My opponent thought they could block my distribution with hexproof. Big mistake. Watch those card texts; MTG is all about the details.
