Does 'Fight' work against Protection in MTG?
TargetingDirt路7 months agoNope, 'fight' doesn't get through protection in MTG because protection generally stops damage from whatever it's protected from. Since 'fight' spells cause creatures to deal damage to each other, if one creature has protection from the qualities of the other (like color or card type), it won't be touched by the 'fight'.

Actually, 'fight' spells can't bypass protection. Protection prevents damage, among other things, from whatever source it specifies. So, if your creature is protected from green and it's fighting a green creature, it won't take any damage. Remember, protection covers damage, enchanting/equipping, blocking, and targeting.
Short version: fight = no good against protection. The protection rule shields like a champ!
