Nope, fighting in MTG doesn't target. Even though it seems like it would cause two creatures to kinda 'duel' it out, the rules say fighting isn't the same as targeting. So, spells or abilities that say 'target' don't apply when you're making creatures fight each other.

Short answer - no, fight mechanics in Magic The Gathering don't use the target keyword. It's a common misunderstanding but battling it out creature to creature doesn鈥檛 mean you鈥檙e targeting in the typical sense.

Actually, in most cases, fighting doesn't target in MTG. This means abilities that protect against targeting don't stop the fight. However, always read the card! Some newer mechanics might bend the rules a bit.

No, but actually... kinda yes? While traditional fighting doesn't target, some cards that cause fights might have targeting restrictions for choosing the fighters, so always check your cards!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
