Nah, Hide survives. You see him again in Tokyo Ghoul:re, helping Kaneki from the shadows.
Spoiler alert: Hide pulls a vanishing act but he's actually alive and kicking. Kaneki's bestie stays in the game!
As someone who read the manga and watched the series, I can confirm Hide doesn鈥檛 die. He later reappears and continues to support Kaneki.
Do a rewatch if you're unsure. He doesn't die.
